Ajman DED celebrates "UAE Codes" Day. Ajman DED honors its creative programmers

Sunday, 31 October 2021

The Department of Economic Development in Ajman (Ajman DED) honored its creative coders and programmers, which coincides with the country's celebrations of the "UAE Codes" Day. That day is declared by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, "may Allah protect him", to be an annual celebration of the UAE’s march, which coincides with the anniversary of inaugurating the first e-government in the region and the Arab world twenty years ago by His Highness on 29th October, 2001

"UAE Codes" day is a national occasion that emphasizes the completion of the development process and comprehensive digitalization, which enhances the efforts of the National Program for Coders and its initiatives aimed to motivate coders and programmers in the UAE, and provide them with new opportunities to learn and work in line with the directions outlined in the "Fifty-Year Charter"

On this great occasion, H.E. Abdullah Al Hamrani, Director-General of the Ajman DED, said that this is a day of pride in the achievements made by the UAE during its global leadership journey in the government digitalization. Especially that the UAE topped the E-Government Development Index (EGDI) and E-Participation Index (EPI) according to the Global Competitiveness Report and the Global Innovation Index (GII), to be ranked first in the GCC, Arab region; and 8th globally in the Online Service Index (OSI) issued by the United Nations in 2020. It is also among the best countries in the world in digital government transformation, according to the “GovTech Maturity Index (GTMI)” in 2020, in the most important indicators: “GovTech Maturity” and “Adoption of Digital Transformation in the Public Sector”.

Al Hamrani added that the Ajman DED was among the local government departments in the emirate, which has made a qualitative and rapid leap in the digital transformation by launching and implementing the digital strategy aimed to digitize all internal processes and procedures. It also achieves 100% digital transformation for all services provided to customers, and on this occasion we honored today the Department's coders and programmers who had an effective role in achieving this digital achievement for the Department, and proving its leadership.

Al Hamrani also confirmed that the Ajman DED is keen to provide an investment and economic environment that attracts skilled talents and investments, and supports the UAE’s future directions included in the "UAE's 10 principles for the next 50 years", which focuses on investing in human capital, developing the educational system, attracting talents, retaining specialists, and continuously building skills; in addition to enhancing digital and technical excellence by launching programs that support national human talents, or providing an attractive climate for foreign investments and granting economic licenses that support activities which support digital transformation
