Ajman DED finishes its preparations for Ramadan

The Department of Economic Development in Ajman (Ajman DED) has finished its preparations to welcome the holy month of Ramadan, as it carried out an inspection campaign over the course of a month and a half on markets, sales outlets, stores, and their branches in the emirate, with a view to ascertaining the availability of goods and products in markets and sales outlets throughout the holy month of Ramadan, and to ensure that they are offered at appropriate prices and their conformity to approved specifications and standards, and that establishments adhere to promotional offers. 

In this regard, H.E. Abdullah Ahmed Al Hamrani, Director General of the Ajman DED, said: “We are working to intensify inspection campaigns on establishments and all sales outlets and to subject them to continuous monitoring and inspection throughout the holy month of Ramadan, which witnesses constant activity around the clock and an increase in the pace of commercial activity, as we seek to create a safe and encouraging economic environment for merchants and investors, raising the level of consumer awareness and confidence in the Emirate of Ajman, and organizing the process of conducting economic activity to enhance commercial and economic protection and preserve the safety and rights of consumers through inspection visits in the markets, and through various awareness programs for consumers and merchants alike.” 

Al Hamrani confirmed that the Ajman DED relies on qualified cadres to manage and follow up on inspection and control operations in accordance with the best international practices and accreditations in the field, which enhance the efficiency of inspection and control operations, and organize the process of field follow-up visits to facilities within work groups with a shift system for shift times throughout the day. 

Saud Sultan Al Shammari, Director of Control and Consumer Protection Section, stated that the Department has implemented 10,873 inspection visits since February 2024, with a total of 205 awareness visits, and a total of 2,059 follow-up visits, while issuing 1,131 warnings and 304 violations, and the percentage of establishments complying with the regulations and laws reached 97%." 

Al Shammari added that the Department will continue field and control inspections until Eid al-Fitr, to ensure the availability of goods around the clock in various economic establishments, especially consumer complexes, hypermarkets, and food markets, and to adhere to the promotional offers policy and avoid raising prices, calling on society members and consumers to communicate in the event of any violations or violations, to submit reports and complaints by calling the government contact center 80070 or visiting the Ajman DEED’s website www.ajmanded.ae or the app @ajmanded.
