The Department of Economic Development in Ajman (Ajman DED) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the The Ajman Business Women Council (AJBWC) of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) during the activities of the GITEX Global 2023, with a view to consolidating joint cooperation to empower women, support their active participation in the process of economic and social development, provide innovative programs and initiatives that support the growth of business women’s businesses and projects, and increase their contribution to the domestic product.
The MoU was signed at the Ajman government pavilion at GITEX 2023 by HE Dr. Amna Khalifa Al Ali, Board member of the Ajman Chamber and Chairwoman of the AJBWC, and HE Abdullah Ahmed Al Hamrani, Director General of the Ajman DED.
The MoU stipulated enhancing opportunities for joint cooperation to support women’s projects; cooperating in the preparation of a comprehensive and accurate database on female and business entrepreneurs who are Ajman citizens and residents; exchanging relevant data, information, reports and studies for both parties; and implementing joint initiatives and projects to support and develop the projects of male and female entrepreneurs in general.
It also emphasized cooperation and participation in educational campaigns, programs, activities, and events organized by both parties, preparation of a joint plan to identify the challenges facing home license holders, organization of targeted training courses, cooperation in the field of consultation and feasibility studies, provision of privileges to SME owners and to members of programs of both parties, and cooperation in the field of marketing and promoting program members on both sides, exchanging experiences and transferring knowledge.
Dr. Amna Khalifa stated that the MoU comes within the framework of the AJBWC's efforts to consolidate and strengthen relations with local government agencies concerned with economic affairs, stressing the importance of the MoU and its role in providing a list of tools, opportunities, and proactive services aimed at supporting and encouraging creative thinking and developing the projects of women entrepreneurs and motivating women who want to start new businesses that contribute to the development of the local economy. She also praised the Ajman DED's efforts in permanently supporting the AJBWC's programs.
She said: "Women business owners have a crucial role in developing the economy, and the responsibility of supporting them requires concerted efforts among the concerned authorities to enhance their capabilities and achieve tangible successes, in addition to the role of these authorities in monitoring the challenges facing women business owners and working to find solutions for them with the aim of sustaining and growing their businesses in a way that embodies the directives of wise leadership."
For his part, Abdullah Al Hamrani welcomed this cooperation with AJBWC, stressing that the signing of the MoU comes within the framework of the Ajman DED’s efforts to expand the base of strategic partnerships aimed at contributing to consolidating Ajman’s position as an important center for entrepreneurship, while providing support and care to members and affiliates of the programs of both parties, empowering women in trade and entrepreneurship, and focusing on the enhancing the culture of entrepreneurship by providing various services, such as specialized training and consulting to attract innovative ideas and the growth of emerging companies. He expressed his happiness in continuing to provide diverse opportunities in trade for women and promoting our efforts towards comprehensive and sustainable economic development in partnership with AJBWC.
On the sidelines of signing the MoU, Dr. Amna visited the participating government agencies’ platforms within the Ajman Government pavilion at the GITEX Global 2023 and was briefed on innovative government services and projects based on the uses of artificial intelligence (AI), praising the exceptional opportunity the exhibition provides for developing government services and its role. As a global platform for exchanging best practices in light of this MoU from participating entities and institutions, innovators, and programmers from countries around the world
