Department of Economic Development – Ajman

Based on its strategic role in the field of achieving sustainable economic development, the Ajman DED, through continuous and intense coordination and cooperation with local and federal authorities, took a number of initiatives and provided a set of incentives to help the local business community overcome the repercussions of the crisis on its economic performance.

The Ajman DED has actively participated in providing a group of incentives to the local business community within the first and second packages of incentives launched by the emirate, which included:

  • A comprehensive strategic technical plan was drawn up, during which a number of technical projects were launched to improve the licensing system and the quality and ensure the quality of data and statistics to support the economic decision-making mechanism based on real, documented information.
  • Facilitate the procedures for investors and customers by making them available electronically without the need for any human intervention
  • Intensifying monitoring and field inspection campaigns on markets in order to ensure a balance between consumer rights and reduce the negative effects of the crisis on the performance of various operating economic establishments, as well as public awareness and ensuring that all economic establishments adhere to the precautionary measures taken at the local and federal levels.

The incentives launched by the emirate, including the Ajman DED's incentives during the crisis, have contributed in helping the business community to overcome the repercussions of the crisis in various fields. After the slowdown in the growth rates of the movement of new licenses in the second quarter during the escalation of the pandemic, these rates jumped to record levels of about 48% during the second half of 2020. The activity of renewing licenses in the second half grew by 3.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The aforementioned positive numbers reflect the effectiveness of the incentives that were launched in overcoming the challenges left by the crisis, especially during the second quarter of 2020.
